How Did You Get Started as a Travel Concierge?
I decided that I not only wanted to tell people about my journeys, but I wanted them to experience it as well; so I offer my expertise as a travel agent. I wanted them to fill their senses with the wonders that the world has to offer. You could read about Carnivale in Rio de Janeiro in a book, or you could delight in feeling the pulse of the samba in your chest and letting the multicolours of the costumes overwhelm your eyes.
I love that first interaction with my clients when they are describing the adventure they want to embark on. Their eyes light up while they visualize their escape of the ordinary. I feed on their excitement, which fuels my tireless hours of mapping out their journey. If they want me to map out a portion or the entire trip, I follow through on delivering the best product possible.
My clients always have that one thing that they are really excited about; whether it’s attending a Manchester United football game at Old Trafford stadium or relaxing for a couple days at a resort in Hunter Valley, Australia, I go above and beyond to make that experience more than they could have imagined.
Would You Consider Yourself a Citizen of the World?
I am definitely not an expert, but I’m working on it! I love everything encompassing travel, including packing and unpacking. And yes, I can offer some great tips to my clients on that. I love to research destinations, experience cultures, study architecture, breath their air, and overall, overwhelm my senses. My favourite is tasting their food! Though Edmonton has some great restaurants, there are so many flavours beyond North America!
I rely on my clients to tell me at least a basic idea of what they want, and through extensive research I find an abundance of possibilities. The multitude of perspectives and ways to see and experience the world is remarkable! For example, you could hike the Grand Canyon to see nature’s wonder or you could skydive over it, and land nearby to eat hors d’oeuvres and drink champagne. What a once in a lifetime experience that would be!
Where Will Your Travels Take You Next?
Even though I spend most of my time planning amazing journey’s for my clients, I do find the time to experience the world myself. For fall of 2019 I am really looking forward to a group cruise through the French Riviera and Dalmatian Coast, starting in Barcelona, Spain and ending in Venice, Italy. We have an exciting list of excursions on this cruise, a relaxing day on the Ionian Island beach in Corfu , Cooking classes in Rome, a visit to an Olive farm in Kotor, and a tour of the Ferrari Factory in Maranella. It will defiantly be an unbelievable adventure!!
Hmmmmmmm, what will 2020 bring???
