Itinerary

    1. Day 1 – Siem Reap

      Arrive at your historic hotel, your home for a three night Special Stay, located within walking distance of the markets. Enjoy the day at leisure until tonight when you meet your Scenic Tour Director and fellow travelling companions at your welcome briefing and dinner.  Meals Included: Dinner

    2. Day 2 – Siem Reap
      Freechoice

      Discover Banteay Srei, dedicated to Shiva and known as the ‘citadel of women’ and visit the Landmine Museum or admire the skills on display at Artisans D’Angkor. Alternatively, cruise on Tonle Sap (seasonal), take a remork (Tuk Tuk) ride to the markets or take a tethered balloon ride above Angkor Wat (weather dependent) before visiting a local handicraft centre.

      Later in the afternoon, a perfect time in the day for photography, visit the colossal Angkor Wat.

      Take your Premium Reserved seat at the colourful Cambodian Circus, Phare. Phare transforms the lives of Cambodian youth, where its artists use theatre, music, dance and circus arts to tell uniquely Cambodian stories. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch

    3. Day 3 – Siem Reap
      Enrich

      Marvel at sunrise over the magnificent Angkor Wat before moving to a special location for a champagne breakfast with food prepared by an NGO supported local bakery school.

      Visit the atmospheric, jungle covered Ta Prohm Temple, before stopping at Angkor Thom and the multi-faced Bayon Temple. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure.

      Be wowed by a mystical themed Gala Dinner at an Angkor temple, with included free flow drinks and a show featuring Apsara dancers in front of candlelit temple ruins.  Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner

    4. Day 4 – Siem Reap > Mekong Cruise

      Discover the rural side of Cambodia on your drive to Kampong Cham where Scenic Spirit awaits, with stops at the Khmer bridge at Kampong Kdei, Kampong Thom and a stone cutters village.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    5. Day 5 – Wat Hanchey > Kampong Cham

      Awake as you approach Wat Hanchey, an ancient hilltop pagoda and monastery to meet the resident novice monks. Walk (or drive) to the top for some of the best elevated views of the cruise before sailing downstream to Kampong Cham

      Learn the history of the area with a visit to Phnom Pros (Man Hill) and then Wat Nokor. Alternatively, explore the traditional village of Koh Pen or visit a rubber plantation factory and betel nut village.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    6. Day 6 – Angkor Ban > Silk Island > Phnom Penh

      Upon arrival in Angkor Ban, explore its historical rural wooden houses, which survived the Khmer Rouge, and visit the local pagoda to observe the lifestyle of the resident monks and nuns.

      Receive a blessing from a monk and learn how to pray in a Buddhist pagoda, before partaking in a ceremony that contributes to the daily meal of the resident monks.

      Later, sail downstream to Koh Dach Island dedicated to the art of silk weaving before continuing your cruise to Phnom Penh

      Enjoy a cocktail reception on the Sun Deck against the backdrop of Phnom Penh’s lights as the ship sails towards the capital at sunset.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    7. Day 7 – Phnom Penh

      Journey to the Killing Fields and tour Tuol Sleng, the former school that was converted to the main prison of the Khmer Rouge, or take a guided tour of the local food market before joining a hands-on Khmer cooking demonstration. Alternatively, explore Phnom Penh’s colonial buildings by remork (tuk tuk) and visit the Central Market before stopping for lunch at a local NGO restaurant teaching street kids hospitality skills.

      This afternoon is at your leisure for shopping or exploring on your own.

      Later this evening revel in our Phnom Penh by City Lights tour, giving you an insight to the nightlife of the capital before stopping at a distillery for an exclusive tour and tasting behind closed doors.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    8. Day 8 – Phnom Penh > Tan Chau

      This morning marvel at the Royal Palace, featuring the famous Silver Pagoda, on your included visit to this must-see attraction. The afternoon is at your leisure to take advantage of the facilities of the most luxurious ship on the Mekong as you set sail for the Cambodian and Vietnamese border. Celebrate arriving in Vietnam with your themed evening dinner.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    9. Day 9 – Tan Chau
      Freechoice

      Stay in Tan Chau to visit Evergreen Island and enjoy a ride in a Xe Loi to a silk dye factory. In Chau Doc visit Vinh Te Canal and a family-operated fish farm, followed by Tây An Temple at Sam Mountain or visit Tra Su Bird Sanctuary.

      While sailing downstream to Sa Dec, take the time to enjoy a cocktail by the pool or appreciate some solitude on your private balcony as you watch the scenery pass by.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    10. Day 10 – Sa Dec > Cai Be

      Immerse yourself in the historic town of Sa Dec and explore the lively markets. Stop for green tea at the home of Mr Huynh Thuy Le who inspired Marguerite Duras’ novel L’Amant.

      Board a sampan to visit Cai Be, local cottage industries and a traditional Vietnamese house. Alternatively, savour morning tea at the colonial French home, Le Longanier or stay on board for a special activity.

      This evening enjoy a farewell dinner on board as you sail to My Tho.    Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    11. Day 11 – Mekong Cruise > Ho Chi Minh City

      Drive to Ho Chi Minh City and visit the War Museum before an orientation tour around your hotel and a two night stay. Spend the remainder of the afternoon at leisure.

      Enjoy a Vespa foodie tour of Saigon, enjoy a meal in an old French colonial house or a restaurant specialising in Saigon street food. Alternatively, try Italian at Basilico or international fare at Nineteen Restaurant.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    12. Day 12 – Ho Chi Minh City

      Travel to the Cu Chi Tunnels and learn about the underground labyrinth of war-time passageways before returning to explore the Reunification Palace. Enjoy tonight’s farewell dinner.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    13. Day 13 – Ho Chi Minh City > Yangon

      Say farewell to Vietnam and fly to Yangon. Settle into your Club floor room at your hotel Yangon for a two night Special Stay. This evening enjoy the included amenities of your Pacific Club access.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    14. Day 14 – Yangon
      Freechoice

      Embark a local train for a ride around Yangon’s suburbs. Alternatively, be guided on a tour of Yangon’s thriving art scene, or ride a ferry across the Yangon River to Dhala village.

      Later this afternoon visit Chaukhtatgyi Paya, Yangon’s reclining Buddha.

    15. Day 15 – Yangon > Bagan > Irrawaddy Cruise

      Transfer to the airport and fly to Bagan. On arrival wander through the city’s oldest market at Nyaung U, followed by a local lunch. Later, learn all about the production of Burmese lacquerware, a Bagan specialty, beforetransferring to the luxurious Scenic Aura, where you can relax at the welcome reception as you set sail.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    16. Day 16 – Sailing > Magwe

      Spend the morning relaxing and getting to know the facilities of the most luxurious ship on the river, Scenic Aura. This afternoon arrive in Magwe, exploring the town by traditional trishaw. Take in the elevated views from Mya Tha Lun Pagoda, a mesmerising architectural vision set on Naguttama Hill. Remain alongside over night for your own exploration.    Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    17. Day 17 – Magwe > Minhla Fort

      This morning continue cruising downstream to Minhla and it’s Italian built forts where their capture by the British brought to an end to an independent Burma.  Explore the fort before accepting the challenge to shop as a local in the market. Afterwards begin sailing back upstream towards Salay.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    18. Day 18 – Sailing

      Make use of the ship’s luxury and take the time to sip a cocktail by the pool, attend an on board demonstration or enjoy some solitude on your private balcony during your full day sailing upstream along the Irrawaddy to Salay.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    19. Day 19 – Salay > Bagan

      Arrive early this morning. On your exploratory walking tour of this colonial riverside town, admire the mix of old Burmese and British architecture and visit Youqson Kyaung, a beautiful teak monastery now converted to a museum.

      Soak up the ambience of the river and the colonial feel of the town whilst enjoying traditional local Burmese tea and snacks in a restored colonial villa dating from 1906.

      Continue sailing upstream to Bagan. Relax on the sundeck with a cocktail in hand viewing the many temples and pagodas that line the river as you approach the ancient location. Upon arrival, visit the most iconic sight of this hypnotic region, the Ananda Temple.  Continue travelling by horse and cart through a local village, and as the sun begins to set, the surrounding plain filled with temple ruins. Tonight on board enjoy a string puppet show.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    20. Day 20 – Bagan

      For the early risers, attend and partake in morning alms for the local monks.

      Visit a toddy farm en-route to Mount Popa, home to Myanmar’s nats or nature spirits, before enjoying lunch overlooking the temple or cross the river to Tant Kyi Tuang to take in the expansive elevated views of Bagan. Alternatively, either explore the Temple Circuit in more depth, or enjoy a visit to the sites of Old Bagan.

      Tonight, be wowed by a Scenic exclusive magical themed dinner, with included free flow drinks and a cultural show played out in front of candle lit Bagan temple ruins.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    21. Day 21 – Bagan > Pakkoku

      Optional Hot Air Balloon Flight
      Balloons over Bagan – Between 01 October and 31 March, take a chance to ride in a hot air balloon flight over the majestic temples of Bagan. Must be purchased prior to your cruise to guarantee availability.

      Depart Bagan and sail to Pakkoku. Upon arrival this afternoon, travel by local tuk tuk to a cheroot cigar workshop, the local market and longyi and blanket factory – perfect for shopping.    Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    22. Day 22 – Yandabo

      After a relaxing morning cruising, arrive in Yandabo where in 1826, the peace treaty ending the First Anglo-Burmese war was signed. Now famous for its pottery, stroll through the village and witness the artisans honing their craft and observe their unusual way of firing the pottery. Continue sailing to Mingun.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    23. Day 23 – Mingun

      In Mingun, discover the stories behind a huge unfinished brick pagoda and the all-white Hsinbyume Pagoda, Myanmar’s Taj Mahal. Nearby, admire the un-cracked Mingun Bell.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    24. Day 24 – Sagaing > Mandalay > Amarapura

      Take in the amazing views from the sundeck during the dazzling approach to Myanmar’s spiritual capital Sagaing, dotted with hundreds of gilded pagodas and monasteries.

      Interact with novice monks, nuns and orphans during a special visit to a monastic supported school before continuing to a quiet nunnery where you will partake in the ritual and our donation to the resident nuns before their midday meal.

      Also take in the views over the Irrawaddy River from Sagaing Hill before sailing to Mandalay to visit Amarapura.

      Sundowners

      In Amarapura, relax with evening drinks in boats under U-Bein Bridge, the world’s longest teak bridge, to capture that memorable photo of the bridge’s silhouette at sunset.

      Back on board enjoy the special farewell by Scenic Aura’s crew.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    25. Day 25 – Irrawaddy Cruise > Mandalay

      After disembarkation, admire the intricate artistry of Shwenandaw, a wooden monastery covered internally in gold leaf. Equally impressive are the sights at Kuthodaw Pagoda, home to the ‘World’s Largest Book’. Later walk through the rebuilt Mandalay Palace, destroyed during World War II.

      Learn how to produce gold leaf at a local workshop. At Mahamuni Pagoda, male guests will be able to place the gold leaf on the iconic Buddha statue.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    26. Day 26 – Mandalay > Inle Lake

      Fly to Heho and drive to Nyaung Shwe. After lunch, glide across Inle Lake in private long tail boats towards your award-winning resort for a three night Special Stay.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    27. Day 27 – Inle Lake

      Begin with an excursion by the most comfortable long tail boats on the lake to visit Inle Lake’s main market, which moves every five days. See the holiest site in Inle Lake, the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda and Royal barges.

      Enrich

      Learn about life at home on the lake with a visit to a local Intha family for your lunch.

      Later, cruise down a network of small canals to the Pa-Oh village of Indein.  Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    28. Day 28 – Inle Lake

      Visit Pindaya Caves, or visit Taunggyi for lunch at Myanmar’s oldest winery. Alternatively, walk to a nearby village.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    29. Day 29 – Inle Lake > Yangon

      Fly to Yangon for lunch at the historical House of Memories Restaurant. Check into the club floor at Melia Yangon Hotel and savour your farewell dinner at the beautiful Le Planteur Restaurant.   Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    30. Day 30 – Yangon

      Say farewell to Myanmar.
